Quartz Hill Elementary students were recognized at the GPS Governing Board Meeting on May 12, 2026, for their first-place finish in the GPS Battle of the Books.

The team, consisting of Jane Glenn, Delani Dowell, and Kinsley Lauer, secured first place in the district competition and was one of four teams to earn a perfect score of 70 after two phases. Following seven rounds of tie-breakers to determine the final standings, Quartz Hill won the district competition! The team went on to represent Gilbert in the Regional Battle on May 6.
